Job Description: Programs & Marketing Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting the success of local businesses? The Hyde Park Business Improvement Association (HPBIA) is seeking an energetic Programs & Marketing Assistant to join the team.
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be a consistently friendly, outgoing professional with a positive, pro-active attitude capable of juggling a varied and diverse workload.
About the Hyde Park Business Improvement Association (HPBIA)
The Hyde Park Business Improvement Association (HPBIA) represents businesses in Hyde Park, Uptown London within the BIA boundaries. Established in 1979 and designated as a Business Improvement Area in 2017, the HPBIA supports the continued growth of the BIA area as a premier destination. With over 450 members, the HPBIA serves as an economic and social anchor within its boundaries in Uptown London, helping to stabilize and add vitality to the local community.
We work to beautify and promote the Hyde Park area, fostering a sense of community for residents, businesses, and visitors while attracting people and customers from across London and neighbouring counties. Events and beautification efforts encourage tourism as we work to create a vibrant community that people love to visit. These initiatives also support the mandate of business recruitment and retention, sustaining existing retail while bringing new and exciting business opportunities to Hyde Park, and ensuring that new development reflects the needs of the existing businesses and the community.
Responsibilities
Marketing
- Create captivating and engaging content for BIA social media channels, with a focus on video.
- Administer Feature Friday promotional video program for businesses
- Assist with posting to all social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Schedule social media content using Hootsuite and Facebook Business Suite.
- Assist in the creation of content for the BIA Member e-News newsletter & email marketing program.
- Assist the Programs, Marketing & Events Lead in the creation of content for BIA events
- Work closely with the Programs, Marketing & Events Lead and General Manager to brainstorm content, social media, and brand strategies that align with businesses and wider BIA goals.
- Make updates to the BIA website, specifically event and business promotions.
- Knowledge/experience with SEO is considered an asset.
Programs
- Administer HPBIA member initiatives such as bus shelter ads, loyalty card programs and HPBIA Beautification initiatives.
- Draft business correspondence; complete forms, permits, and prepare communications materials or business documents.
- Assist in the planning and execution of BIA events, including but not limited to, PondFest and the Hyde Park Christmas Market.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing office communications, including email and phone calls.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Hyde Park BIA business owners and staff, assisting with membership deliverables.
- Assist in the coordination of joint partnerships between the BIA, the City of London, and other stakeholders.
- Manage BIA membership data.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business, Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, and/or Communications.
- Demonstrated social media and website content creation & scheduling experience.
- Experience creating, scheduling, and analyzing Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter ads.
- Experience with Hootsuite and integration of this software with social channels.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
- Experience filming and editing video content of all kinds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and administrative skills.
- Time management skills with the ability to multitask amidst interruptions.
- Community-minded, with a keen interest in community engagement.
- Knowledge of Hyde Park and/or London and the local business community an asset
- Detail and results-oriented, deadline-driven, extremely organized.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible, self-motivated, and eager to lead and complete a wide variety of tasks.
Additional Information
Hours: 30 hours a week from Tuesday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Contract: One-year renewable full-time contract position. The first three months are probationary.
Flexibility: Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required based on events and other business needs.
